Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder's Indie 500 album is definitely a great album in theory, but falls a little short in practice. In saying that overall the album has some good tracks even is they can feel a little rushed while bisected. Every Ghetto is just one track that I felt had a lot of heart but maybe could have just had a little more time put into it.
Street Fighter 2 - Cammy Stage
I remember playing this little game in the arcade when I was too young to actually be good at it. Still I am excited that Brain Wave is making a remastered version and releasing it on vinyl. They have some comparison tracks on their soundcloud account but here is a original track from the original Street Fighter 2 release. It was hard to pick the one stage I enjoyed the most but I picked M Bison purely because of that tension you get making it all the way to him and the amount of quarters you (I) would spend trying to beat him.
Oneohtrix Point Never - Mutant Standard
I would almost describe Daniel Lopatin's music as over the top, unworldly, and almost something we would hear from a late 80's indie si-fi horror soundtrack. Mutant Standard is a longer track but I feel like most of his tracks, he is fitting a whole "movie" in there.
DIIV - Bent (Roi's Song)
Just the more music I have to relax to the more I think my days just slip away and this last week has slipped through my fingers so fast. Part of me Hopes this track does the same to you guys because sometimes you just need to let life slip away from you (or you from it).
Monte Booker - Baby Ft. Ravyn Lenae
Here is a nice relaxing track to glide you through your day.
Floating Points - Peroration Six
There is a lot of build up into this track and I hate to ruin the ending but it doesn't feel like it concludes. I feel like your just about to solve the mystery, or maybe you just discovered the truth but it is too late. You are cut off before you can do anything about it. It is the ultimate build up and the ultimate betrayal.
Parov Stelar - Get Up On Your Feet
Another electro swing...or electro funk type song for today. Parov Stelat is another good band to recommend and for different reasons than Caravan Palace. Parov Stelar I find is a little nicer to relax to where Caravan PAlace helps me get up and get movin'.
Caravan Palace - Lone Digger
Caravan Palace's new album « I°_°I » is out and it is a welcomed change from there previous work. Not that I didn't like it. They have made some of my favorite electro swing songs but This album feels more like they are finding their fit into the electro swing world. I hope songs like this can get people in the EDM scene to test the waters outside of their comfort zone.
Jauz - Deeper Love
Lets change things up with Jauz's Deeper Love. A nice little thumpy song that sounds solid as long as your speakers bass is up for it. Listening to it in my speakers at home sounded completely different then my little headphones. i wear on the go.
Cliff Martinez - Son of Placenta Previa
This should be my last halloween related track for Song of The Day. Chilling but driven this track is a nice carrot on the end of your halloween stick.
Even with Halloween down I still can't get out of the haunting Halloween spirit. Shlohmo really keeps with the feel of what I have been listening too for the last few days.
Disasterpeace - Detroit
A short but a great haunting piece by Disasterpeace.
Lumpy And The Dumpers - Flush Em
Lets start our Fridays of with something a little out of control and unrefined but crazy enough to get your blood pumping. being only 1:48 it is a perfect start to your playlist.
Alex Bleeker & The Freaks - Sealong Hair
I love Alex Bleeker & The Freaks' new album Country Agenda. I feel very nostalgic when listening to it because my father would play stuff like this on family road trips so songs like Sealong Hair just zen me out and it bring me into a place full of bliss.
Song of The Day
Some semi random song I enjoy will be posted here once a day with a small description of the song and or band.
